The replacement
Yesterday, I phoned PC Live to get an update about my demand for laptop replacement.
I have spoken with the manager and she told me that she will get feedback about it today.
I asked her to text me instead for it since I will be out the whole day.
While I was on my therapy session this afternoon, I got a text from them that I could claim the replacement unit today. Since I have to go on duty at 4:00 p.m. I have to take a rain check.
I will go there tomorrow.
Seriously, I am not hoping for a better deal because I do not want to be frustrated and be on the losing end.
Tomorrow’s gonna be another day.
UPDATE:
I was able to get the replacement for my lemon love. Same model, same color, different serial number. Tests revealed no problem, as yet. I was informed that if problem arises, they could only render the service warranty.
I am really not hoping into bumping into problems with this laptop. I just want something to use that is worth my hard-earned money.
I wish that I do not have to go back to PC Live again.
Philly Cheese Steak @ Kenny's
Having seen the best Philadelphia cheese steaks in the US on Food Paradise, I have been obsessing to sink my teeth in Philly’s finest.
Of course economic and healthwise, I cannot travel abroad so I am in search for local version of this mouthwatering treat.
So when I learned about Kenny’s Philly Cheese Steak, I compulsively led my way to a branch near the office on Quezon Ave. cor. Examiner St.
For P169.00 it is a bit pricey but I just told myself that it is the time of the month to reward myself. It’s pay day!
Another treat is that, they have a promo until May 31st where you could get 50% off the price of the next sandwhich that you will order.
I don’t know if it was really the weather (it was 4:00 p.m.) but as I waited for them to serve my sandwhich (which took about 10 minutes that seemed like eternal) I was sweating so hard. You could hardly feel the a/c.
It is my first time to try this sandwich so I have nothing to compare it to but one thing is for sure, I enjoyed it! I can tell that it was freshly prepared. It is not too salty and it is made in whole wheat bun which makes it more healthy. I wonder why it is not included in their healthy meals selections.
Mr. Choi failed to serve
After hitting the gym and before going to PC Live, I felt a little hypoglycemic.
So I decided to get a sugar fix a Mr. Choi at Walter Mart North Edsa.
I ordered mushroom fried rice and my all time fave chicken feet. I was surprised that the mushroom fried rice serves 2 to 3 persons, too bad I did not care to ask.
While eating, I did not feel that I was dining at a Chinese restaurant, the food tastes bland and you could tell that they were not freshly prepared as if they were just reheated.
Although they serve complementary tea, they do not have freshly squeezed lemonade or freshly made iced tea which makes my dining experience worse.
My new found love is a lemon
A few days shy to reach our monthsary, my laptop has showed sign of imperfection or actually showed sign of giving up on me.
The LCD is so dim that you could actually think it blacked out.
I brought this 2-kilo lemon to PC Live where I bought it. The technical guy tinkered with it and pronounced that it has to be brought to Dell’s service center as the LCD might be defective or there were just loose wirings causing the failure to transmit power to the LCD.
I asked about the replacement warranty and I was surprised to hear that the replacement period is only good for seven days upon purchase.
Of course I did not but the crap. I told him I was not informed about it and he showed me that is it stated in the receipt – the Sales Invoice actually (I had to come back to this store to request for the Official Receipt)
The invoice says that replacement of exchange of the unit is allowed within seven days upon purchase. It does not say that replacement for defective unit is only good within seven days upon purchase.
I argued that they cannot claim that it is implied and their claim would not stand in the court of law.
I told them that I insist on unit replacement as I am not willing to take back a lemon worth 30 grand.
The technician said it’s the policy of Dell and asked me if I still want to send the unit to Dell. I told them to do his stuff and I will do mine, that is write to DTI (Department of Trade and Industry)
He went into the backroom and then the manager came out. She told me that they would see what they could about the replacement and to hold my plan of writing to DTI.
I am not a whiner actually, and the last thing I want to do in this stressful life of mine is to deal with government agencies which is a right smack in the middle stressor. I just want to get my money’s worth.
Crap, I am yet to receive my credit card bill for that wicked laptop.
I told the manager that if I did not hear from them until Thursday, I would definitely write to DTI.
Dear Lord, please help me to get through this with grace.
Susan Boyles made the cut
Undoubtedly she is the crowd’s or the world’s favorite to bag the title of Britain’s Got Talent but she has to convince the judges to get through the semi-final round.
Well, looks like luck is on her side.
Although she started a bit shaky she was able to regain her composure and swept the entire planet with her rendition of Memory:
The swan in her fantasy land
I got a text from my sorority sister, Athena, this afternoon to check out today’s issue of Philippine Daly Inquirer.
In its Lifestyle section, I found the article about Sophia’s Play Garden – Athena’s brain child.
I remembered a couple of years ago Athena was talking about the seminar she was attending about the Waldorf method.
I can’t believe that she has now established an education program based on her learned principle.

I am happy that Athena has found her happiness and is now busy doing the things that she loves.
Athena used to be a ballerina and now she is also teaching belly dancing.
I hope that she could master Yoga. I am pretty sure I would be one of the first who will sign up for her class.
Make up for the dummies
Speed Stacks WORLD RECORD
I learned about him on Ellen.
When Ellen asked him how his last name is pronounced, I realized that he is one of us – Filipino or Pinoy that is. He is from Massachusetts actually.
His name is Steven Purugganan – World Sports Stacks Association (WSSA) World Championship RECORD holder.
It’s not big of a deal actually if his from another country. My jaw literally dropped seeing him in action at lightning speed. It appears that as if the video is playing played on fast forward but that how he really rolls…or stacks.
Pretty awesome! He is the most googled person in the world they say. Suck on that Madonna!
I want to be on that show
I am a self confessed foodie – a food enthusiast. Oh well that would be an understatement of the year. I am a voracious eater of good (as in delicious and not necessarily healthy) food.
I am interested to go places not because of the history or breathtaking views or the photo opp but because I want to taste the best food one place could offer.
I am not scared of trying dining in restos to experiment on their foods. But most of the time I rely on food reviews before I decide to dish some money.
I am also not scared of trying to whip out the hidden chef in me whenever I see something interesting to cook on TV or in the magazine.
Tonight, I have seen chef, entrepreneur and restaurateur (from Cibo and Cafe Bola), Margarita Gaita Pores on Secrets of the Masters
She whipped out before healthy and delectable Italian cuisines. They are pretty simple to pull off I guess.
She went back to basic preparing Pesto Genovese and others (darn I can’t even pronounce or write but I can definitely cook.) They are fresh tomato based and olive oil based.
Chef Porres is very enthusiastic all throughout the demo. You could tell that she has the passion to cook and it does not stop there, she has the passion to cook for people. She is also open to suggestions emphasizing that she could only know what to she needs to improve on if she gets feedback from customers.
She has a book called Kulinarya.
I think I’m gonna get a copy of it.
So since I am a sucker for food trips and I am wondering how could I become an audience of Secrets of the Masters.
I want to satisfy my gastronimc cravings with the best offerings of the local masters.
